Question Types

All available question types: short text, long text, multiple choice, rating, and more.

ZyntForms supports the following field types. Click any field in the builder to access its settings.

Text fields​

Short text​

Single-line text input. Use for: names, job titles, short answers, reference numbers.

  • Max length setting available
  • Supports placeholder text

Long text​

Multi-line textarea. Use for: open-ended feedback, comments, descriptions, notes.

  • Min/max character limit settings available
  • Respondents can resize the input

Email​

Email address input with built-in format validation. Use for: newsletter signups, contact forms, respondent identification.

  • Rejects incorrectly formatted addresses automatically

Number​

Numeric input. Use for: quantities, scores, ages, years, measurements.

  • Min/max value settings available
  • Decimal or integer mode

Choice fields​

Single selection from a list of options. Use for: country, department, category, status.

  • Options are entered one per line in the settings panel
  • Supports up to 500 options

Checkbox (multi-select)​

Multiple selections from a list. Use for: interests, features, dietary restrictions, any "select all that apply" question.

  • Options are entered one per line
  • No limit on number of selections unless set

Radio (single choice)​

Single selection displayed as radio buttons. Use for: yes/no questions, preference selection where all options should be visible at once.

Scale fields​

Rating​

Star or number rating scale. Use for: satisfaction scores, NPS-style ratings, product reviews.

  • Scale: 1–5 or 1–10 (configurable)
  • Display: stars or numbers

Scale / Slider​

Linear scale from a low label to a high label. Use for: agreement scales (Strongly disagree → Strongly agree), effort ratings, likelihood.

  • Configurable range and step size

Date and file fields​

Date​

Date picker input. Use for: appointment requests, event dates, date of birth, deadline selection.

  • Date range restriction available (min/max date)

File upload (Pro)​

Allows respondents to attach files. Use for: document submission, photo upload, CV collection.

  • Accepted file types: configurable
  • Max file size: up to 100 MB per file (Pro plan)

Special fields​

Hidden field​

Not visible to respondents. Used to pass tracking data (UTM parameters, user IDs) into response records silently.

Section break​

Divides a long form into labelled sections. No input — purely organisational. Helps respondents navigate multi-topic forms.
