Shifts
Configuring work shifts for TAT and performance reporting.
Shifts allow Kanta to segment TAT and workload data by time period — morning, afternoon, and night shifts. When shifts are configured, every report and metric can be filtered by shift.
Go to Admin → Shifts.
Adding a shift
- Click Add shift
- Enter the shift name (e.g. "Morning", "Day", "Night")
- Set the start time and end time (24-hour format)
- Click Save
Example setup:
| Shift | Start | End |
|---|---|---|
| Morning | 07:00 | 14:00 |
| Afternoon | 14:00 | 21:00 |
| Night | 21:00 | 07:00 |
How shifts work in reports
Once shifts are configured, a Shift filter appears on:
- TAT overview and reception tab
- Numbers dashboard
- Tests analytics
- QC run list
This lets you compare shift performance — for example, whether morning shift TAT is consistently better than night shift.
Shift assignment for staff
Shifts in Kanta are time-based, not staff-assignment-based. Kanta automatically attributes each event (QC run, sample receipt, result entry) to the shift that was active at the timestamp of that event. No manual shift selection is required from staff.
Shifts and TAT breach analysis
In the TAT breach list, each breach is labelled with the shift it occurred in. Use this to identify whether a specific shift consistently accounts for a higher proportion of breaches — a useful starting point for staffing or process reviews.
