Hospital Settings
Configuring your hospital profile, timezone, and preferences.
Hospital Settings is the configuration centre for your Kanta workspace. Only users with the Hospital Admin role can access this section.
Go to Admin → Settings to find all options below.
General
| Setting | Description |

| Facility name | The name shown throughout Kanta and on reports. Use your full official name. |
| Facility type | Hospital, Health Centre IV, Health Centre III, Clinic, Reference Laboratory |
| District | Uganda district where the facility is located (used in reporting) |
| Contact email | Facility contact email — used in patient-facing report headers |
| Contact phone | Facility phone number — appears on printed reports |
| Logo | Upload your facility logo (PNG or SVG). Appears on report headers and the login screen. |
Timezone
Set your timezone (default: Africa/Kampala, UTC+3). This affects all timestamps in Kanta, including QC run times, sample receipt times, and TAT calculations. Set this correctly before any data is entered.
Modules
Enable or disable feature modules for your facility. Modules that are not enabled are hidden from the sidebar for all users.
Available modules: Reception, LIMS Workflow, Billing, Lab Reports, Referral System, Inventory. Contact [email protected] to change your plan and available modules.
Report header
Configure what appears at the top of printed patient reports:
- Facility name and logo
- Accreditation number (KENAS, ISO 15189, etc.)
- "Verified by" text and signatory name for authorised results
- Footer text (e.g. disclaimer, confidentiality notice)
Data retention
By default, Kanta retains all records permanently. Administrators can configure automatic archiving of records older than a specified number of years (minimum 5 years as per Uganda Ministry of Health records retention policy).
